Governors

Welcome to our section of the Manorfield Infant & Nursery website.

The Governing Body is a statutory body which serves to represent the views of respective stakeholders. It includes past and present parents, interested members of the community and school staff. The Governing Body meets six times a year to review and challenge the school as a critical friend. There are a number of additional sub committees which work on specific matters of school improvement, monitoring pupil achievements, standards as well as ensuring value for money.

The governors are supportive of the hard working members of staff at school and are proud of the many achievements of the children in school. In 2016 the school was judged by OFSTED to be ‘good’ and to be outstanding in most areas. In an Early Years OFSTED 2013 the nursery was judged to be ‘Outstanding’. The Governors visit the school regularly to see for themselves the progress the children are making and the standard of teaching taking place in the classroom.

Being a Governor at Manorfield is an interesting and rewarding role and we are always looking for new members of the school community with skills to offer. If you are interested in becoming a Governor or Associate Governor please contact the Chair of Governors or the school for further information or look on the Kirklees website for further information.

Every Kirklees school has a governing body consisting of Governors who are elected or appointed from parents, staff, Kirklees Council and the local community. A list of our current governors can be found under the Register of Business Interests tab.

The Governing Body and Head Teacher manage most day-to-day aspects of the school. Parents' normal contact with the school will be with the head teacher or staff. If a parent is unhappy about any issue and has been unable to resolve it by talking to the head teacher or head of year, he or she can refer the matter to the governors. This is usually through the Chair of the Governing Body. This communication should be in writing and addressed 'care of' the school.

Governing body minutes and other papers are available for inspection at the school by any person.
